HUMAN RIGHTS: THE KEY TO A PEACEFUL SOCIETY

Kano: Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, a leading civil society organisation in Nigeria, recently joined other participants in a one-day dialogue on the Human Rights Situation in Kano State, with a view to proffering solutions for better citizenship participation in the governance of Nigeria



The one-day programme focused on an overview of Chapter Four of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2011 (As Amended), and the administration of the Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) 2019, in Kano State. Participants at the event, particularly those from Kano State, urged government at all levels, and security agencies to respect the fundamental rights of all citizens, as a sure way to guarantee peace and stability in the Nigerian society.



CEPEJ's Kano State Coordinator, Auwali Idris Adorayi said the one-day interactive forum was well attended by CSO's, NGO's, FBO's and CBO's. It was supported by the Amnesty International, and facilitated by Center for Human Rights and Social Advancement at the American Corner Space, Murtala Muhammad Library, Kano.
